I'm not sure if this post should go here but I think it should due to the fact it's a tec question. How many people out there know of people who have had there bike break in half and have they solved the problelms yet at Suzuki.

From the look of all the new bike it seems that they are still shaving weight down on the fram and rims. Can the frames be welded back saftly? I have seen some break right down the bare frame and not the weld.
What the hell. I have seen rims break like twigs and completly shatter.
Rims don't bend any more and fram's don bend, they just shatter. The reason frames on motorcycles crack, break and or split is simply because they are not built like cars. Cars frames have to be sujected to crash tests and meet strict requirements. Motorcyle frames are not made to withstand crashes just support the rider/engine and provide a stiff chassis for suspension feedback. Being this is the case the frame will crack in most accidents as it only wieghs in at 22lbs of very thin aluminum.
The majority of the support actually comes from the engine being it is a stressed member in todays sportbikes. I have seen a few friends frames break and crack from wrecks and know just how easy it is to do so. There is no flaw in Suzuki's design as the customer wants the bike to be increasingly lighter and faster everyday. Had the Public been concerned with safety they would come with full cages, bumper.ect.
Kind of takes away from the what makes riding a motorcycle so much fun. Now come on guy; let’s be real. I have done wheelies on bikes from far back as I can remember and never have I had or seen one break at the welds let alone break the frame it self.
Man, come on guys how many of you seen and old school bike break. So now you guys are telling me that people should not do wheelies any more. I have never herd the saying that bikes are not for wheelies.Old school motorcycle frames are set a world apart from the new style. My 2001 750 frame looks to be twice as thick as the new frames. Today's bikes need to be lighter and faster every year. All this is BS IMO. Wheelie or no wheelie.
I have yet to hear of any other bike that has frame problems. I have had Honda's and Yamaha's and am a member of both. Hate to say this but this has been on of the major reasons GSXR's have a bad reputation as far as quality and reliability. That said I have 2 friends that have Gsxr both 05. One of them fell and wheelies, nothing has happened to the frame. And the other wheelies all day and nothing has happened either.
My self I bought a crashed one and the frame is perfect. I honestly think its a manufactures defect on a couple of them. I also wanted to add that I have put my hands on most bikes and I have to say that GSXR's have the poorest quality. Even a simple screw or thread, if you place the the allen key a bit crooked your fawked, the bolt will strip. Same thing applies to threads.
Now on the positive side this is one of the best handling bikes I have rode and absolutely has power to spare, 600 or 1000. Designs/color combinations are the best, especially the new 08. Not if the majority of the cracks are in the same exact place. Imperfections in the metal would vary in location from frame to frame. This is a design/construction issue. Pure and simple. This section of the frame is strong enough for what they designed it to do, and more importantly, light.
Heavy landings and crash impacts (in my opinion) are not a concern of Suzuki brass.Wouldn't that be something if AMA ranking numbers were based on perfect execution of wheelies over the finish line. 4 out of 5 Mladin fans agree, it's the way you finish the race not the fact that you give 100% and that you won. Personally on the track or off, the Gix gives me what I need. This whole frame breaking thing and design flaw thing could be kept from us by Suzuki on purpose. Maybe thats why we don't see it.
